GAME Plan
A solid GAME Plan breaks down into
goals, action, monitoring, and evaluation (Cennamo, Ross, & Ertmer, 2009). My particular goals for using more technology
in my teaching would be to Inspire
Student Learning and modeling digital age work (ISTE, 2008). These two goals can breakdown into promoting
innovative thinking through real world problems and collaborative work along
with demonstrating current digital knowledge along with content and
communication (ISTE, 2008). The action
is to use blogging as an effective means for students to share their interest
in current issues in science and using multimedia programs to create video
lectures to flip the classroom. My
progress in these goals can be monitored through the application of these two
activities. Students at our district
continually take a technology assessment that checks for growth in both areas
of the NETS that were described above. I
can further evaluate this progress by comparing notes with a colleague that is
doing similar activities in a different subject area.

What kind of technology do you and your students use in the classroom? Cennamo, et al. (2009) mention that the classroom environment can be conducive to a culture of thinking through teacher visualization of technology (p. 80). You are well on the way to this achievement, especially with the collaboration you are working out with your fellow teachers. If you would like to follow me on Twitter, my location is @desertron

Cennamo, ross & ertmer state that in order to set you need to assess your skills and learning needs (2009). This is especially true for students when setting goals.I was curious what assessment you give your students on technology? Is in an assessment from the ISTE or has your school created it? How often do you give your students the assessment and at what ages? I would like to give my students a self assessment on their technology skills and would love any suggestions on what has been used!

To respond to your comments I use a variety of technology in the classroom to help better integrate new skills. Students often use spreadsheets and Logger Pro for their laboratories. The Logger Pro program works with several different types of probes that can be used for a series of measurements. Like I've stated I'm going to be working more with trying to make the transition to online type classes with video instruction. The assessment our district uses has three different forms for elementary, middle, and high school. It is administered twice a year and was developed by a local area educational agency.
